“I chose to attend MDCC because I wanted to attend somewhere that I felt like more than just a number.”
Sue Ellen Muirhead
Class of 2009
What degree did you receive and what was your major?
Associates of Arts
What is your current occupation?
Personal Lines Insurance Account Manager for Oakbridge Insurance in Starkville, MS.
Why did you choose to attend MDCC?
I chose to attend MDCC because I wanted to attend somewhere that I felt like more than just a number. I wanted that personal relationship with my teachers and the small school feel but still with a great education.
Who was your favorite teacher during your time at MDCC and why?
I am torn between 2 teachers that I had while attending, Philip Lawes and Amy Biles. Mr. Lawes really plugged in and helped us learn the material even after we were tested on it. He would allow us to go back over what we got wrong and helped us improve for the next one. It really showed how much he cared about the success of his students. Mrs. Biles is the one who made me fall in love with Chemistry. She was enthusiastic, fun, and an overall great teacher. She made sure we enjoyed her class but also learned as much as we could.
What is your best memory from your time at MDCC?
My best memory is a crawfish boil we had, I think in 2008.
For you personally, what encapsulates the term "Trojan Spirit"?
To me, Trojan Spirit is the pride of being a graduate of an institution that really cares about its student’s success. It's the small town feel you get while there. Unless you've been there, you really don't understand how tight knit it is.
