Trojan Highlight

I would tell any student to start off at a community college if they aren’t ready for a four year institution.

What degree did you receive and what was your major?

General Education

What is your current occupation?

Teacher

Why did you choose to attend MDCC?

My brothers Orlando and Shon Galloway were apart of the winning Championship Team at MDCC in the early 90s. I wanted to follow in their footsteps and attend MDCC. I chose MDCC because I wanted to reset and get back on track with my education. The two years that I was there, I was an Honor Student. Each semester was either on the Honor’s List, Dean’s List or President’s List. I would tell any student to start off at a community college if they aren’t ready for a four year institution.

Who was your favorite teacher during your time at MDCC and why?

My favorite teacher during my time at MDCC was Ms. Sharelle Grim. She’s Dr. Sharelle Grim-Jackson now. Dr. Jackson cares so deeply for her students. I enjoyed her so much that I took ever history class she taught. I was fortunate enough to join her Leadership Class. Dr. Jackson goes far and beyond for her students. We have been in touch since the day I graduated from MDCC. Students never forget who were there for them. She is a real one!

What is your best memory from your time at MDCC?

My best memory from my time at MDCC was running for the Homecoming Court. It was so much to campaign and interact with all the students on campus. Although I didn’t win, I still had a great time doing so.

For you personally, what encapsulates the term “Trojan Spirit”?

Trojan Spirit means what it says! Trojan Spirit is the feeling of being proud and enthusiastic about the school you have once attended or are attending. I’ll forever be a Trojan!
