Trojan Spirit is something that only MDCC Alumni really get. It forms bonds that never really break and the spirit itself lasts a lifetime.

What degree did you receive and what was your major?

General Education - Transferred to DSU

What is your current occupation?

ELA Teacher at Cleveland Central Middle School

Why did you choose to attend MDCC?

A lot of my friends were going to MDCC and I liked the small, hometown type of environment. Even though it was close knit, there were a lot of events and always something to do so you met tons of different people. MDCC was also really affordable and the quality of education I got compared to what I paid was AMAZING.

Who was your favorite teacher during your time at MDCC and why?

She wasn't my teacher, but I worked in the library with Tasmine Moore and she taught me so much! I ended up getting an MLIS degree because she taught me how to catalog and refurbish book bindings.

What is your best memory from your time at MDCC?

I don't know that I can put everything down for legal reasons. (HA!) I think some of my favorites are discovering the zebras, any time Chief Manuel would come talk to us about campus safety, Thursday nights, and homecoming. Dr. Ed Rice and the entire student activities and services office make our experiences with homecoming and Spring Fest so memorable.

For you personally, what encapsulates the term "Trojan Spirit"?

Trojan Spirit is remembering that the campus and organization of MDCC and its campuses are important to Delta history. It's backroading and catfish ponds, but it's also studying your butt off for Thompson and Toler. It's showing up for games and chanting "Go 'Head, Mo'Head" until it becomes a beloved phrase. It's going to a library that has everything and lets you exist in peace for a little while. It's knowing your friends are just down the hall, a guy you graduated with is in your speech class, and you have a lunch group for Chicken Parm days. Trojan Spirit is something that only MDCC alumni really get. It forms bonds that never really break and the spirit itself lasts a lifetime.
